September 10th the CVC celebrated the 1st Annual Catalan meeting on Computer Vision (ACMCV).
More than 100 people from public entities or private companies interested in computer vision came to the event.
The event, that lasted until lunch (15:00h), had several activities; from a poster session that allowed the exchange of ideas and opinions among the participants to a demos exhibition where, among other demos, we had the opportunity to show a pair of Google Glass being used with an application developed by CVC technicians. We are thankful to SoftForYou to let us use their device during the day.
Besides all this, the same day a industrial doctorates event took place. We had the presence of two great speakers. Fist Jordi Alba, technician of the Generalitat of Catalonia in the Industrial PhD program, explained in detail what the program is about; then, Vincent Poulain explained, the experience with this program from the perspective of his company, IteSoft.
In addition, the event counted with the master’s thesis dissertations of the Master in Computer Vision students. The presence of these students allowed the companies to contact with these young talents that may be future candidates for an Industrial PhD scholarship and get a better idea of how this program and computer vision can help them become more competitive companies.
