Dr. David Vazquez receives a Juan de la Cierva scolarship of the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness.

Dr. David Vazquez Bermudez, has obtained a Juan de la Cierva scholarship to continue his work in the area of Computer Science and Information Technology, specifically in computer vision applied to autonomous driving.
Juan de la Cierva scholarship aims to promote the hiring, by research bodies or Spanish R & D, of young doctors for a period of two years to complete their post-doctoral research training in different Spanish R & D centers to those in which they conducted their predoctoral training, while making additional stays at other research centers to strengthen their specialization and internationalization will be supported.
David Vázquez defended his PhD thesis “Domain Adaptation of Virtual and Real Worlds for Pedestrian Detection” in 2013 at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He has received several awards for this work; the “Outstanding PhD Award” of the department of Computer Science at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, given only 3 candidates, and he has also received the Spanish Association for Pattern Recognition and Image Analysis (AERFAI) best PhD thesis award and also another by the CERCA centers.
