Computer Vision Centre and Demographic Studies Center (CED) from UAB present a web portal for the residents of Sant Feliu de Llobregat to consult their past from the computerization of historical records for more than a century.

Within the scope of the Recercaixa program financed by La Caixa and Catalan Association of Public Universities (ACUP), the project EINES makes citizens to participate in the innovation process of new services in digital humanities. EINES facilitates the computerization of massive demographic scripts of the history to build a public scientific database as well as to improve the experience of consultation archives. The project brings researchers in computer science and social sciences together.

The pilot project started in of Sant Feliu de Llobregat and population records of more than one hundred years have been transcribed. On this portal citizens can check the historical records of their family, rebuilt from the archives. The project revealed an interesting fact that in the year 1881 the most popular names were Josep and Maria and the district had only 14 streets. In the near future other municipalities may also join the project to create a social network history of the population.

On Wednesday 25th of May at 19.00pm in Palau Palau Falguera/Sant Feliu de Llobregat, CVC director, Josep Lladós; General Director of Archives, Libraries, Museums and Heritage, Jusèp Boya; Mayor of Sant Feliu de Llobregat, Jordi Sanjosé and Former Director of CED will present the project and the portal.
