March 3rd from 12.00 to 14.00, and March 4th from 9.30 to 11.30.
The four hours of lectures are in three parts. The first part is concerned with the analysis of visually ambiguous activities from image sequences. This starts with an in depth review of methods that deal with ambiguity in tracking multiple objects. It goes on to show how the same general approach can be extended to handle certain kinds of visually ambiguous activities involving multiple actors.
The second part reviews methods for recognizing activities from video, and explains the principles of a new approach in which activities are explained in terms of the assumed goals of the actors within a scene.
The third part explains the principles of a recent method for learning about activities by combining ideas from AI on logical induction with ideas from computer vision on the discovery of visual attribute categories for objects.
