Useful Information

Transport within Barcelona

The public transport system within the city of Barcelona works very well. There are three different ways to travel.
•    Metro (Underground)
There are 5 lines that cover the complete area of Barcelona. These have different colours and a number (red-L1, purple-L2, green-L3, yellow-L4, blue –L5) The green line L3 and blue L4 both stop at Sants Estació, which is Sants Railway Station.
planolmetro

•    Bus
There is also a very large bus service that covers the city.

•    Taxi
The taxi service works very well. Barcelona taxis are painted black and yellow, and the green light on the roof means that it is free. You can stop a taxi with the green light on down from anywhere, and they all have taxi-metres, which start at 1,30€. There are extra charges for baggage and for taking you to/from the airport (Check the price on the taxi windows)

Languages
In Barcelona common language is catalan, but every body speaks Spanish as well.

Credit Cards
Most shops, hotels and restaurants accept VISA, MasterCard, Diners Club and American Express credit cards, as well as Eurochecks and Eurocards.

Shopping
Barcelona has become a paradise for shopping. In addition to its classical boulevards, La Rambla, Passeig de Gràcia, Diagonal Avenue and department stores plus several attractive shopping malls recently opened. The opening times are 10.00 to 14.00 and from 17.00 to 20.30, even though the big department stores and main shopping areas may stay open until 21.00, without closing at lunch time.
