We are pleased to announce that the Tenth
International Conference on Document Analysis and Recognition (ICDAR'2009),
sponsored by the International Association for Pattern Recognition
(IAPR) TC-10 (Graphics Recognition) and TC-11 (Reading Systems)
will be held at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, Catalonia,
Spain during July 26-29, 2009. ICDAR is an outstanding international
forum for researchers and practitioners at all levels of experience
for identifying, encouraging and exchanging ideas on the state-of-the-art
in document analysis, understanding, retrieval, and performance
evaluation, including various forms of multimedia documents. The
topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

PAPER SUBMISSION
Manuscripts of maximum five pages are encouraged
to be submitted. Papers must describe original work on any of the
ICDAR related topics. The format templates and instructions for
paper submission will be available in the Conference web site. The
deadline for paper submission is January 12, 2009.
WORKSHOPS
Traditionally the scientific program of ICDAR
is complemented by satellite workshops focusing on particular subfields:
Graphics Recognition (GREC) and Camera Based Document Analysis and
Recognition (CBDAR). Proposals of new workshops will be welcome.

TUTORIALS (call for tutorials)
ICDAR2009 Organizing Committee invites proposals
for the Tutorial Program, to be held immediately before to the technical
conference. Tutorials should survey mature or emerging topics of
interest to the ICDAR community at large. Proposals should be submitted
by e-mail to the Tutorial Chair, Dr. J.M. Ogier, before December
19th, 2008.
COMPETITIONS (call for competitions)
As at the past ICDAR editions, competition
to evaluate the performance of different document analysis algorithm
classes will be organized. To propose a competition, please contact
the Competitions Chair, Dr. W. Liu, before December 19th,
2008.
