(SEMINAR) Applied Visual Computing: Case Studies from the University of Bradford
19|07|2012
Data: 19|07|2012 - Hora: 4:30
Lloc: Large Lecture Room
Autors: Dr. David Connah
Afiliació: Centre for Visual Computing, University of Bradford

Imaging systems are used to solve a wide range of real world problems.Surveillance cameras are used to detect intruders, medical imaging systems help with the diagnosis of disease, and satellite systems are used to measure astronomical phenomena, to name just a few. With each different imaging device a vast amount of data is generated. In order for this data to help with decision making and problem solving it must be easy to access and interpret.

In this presentation I will describe some recent work from the Centre for Visual Computing in Bradford that explores the simplification, visualization and evaluation of image data. Examples will include the representation of 3D shapes for computer graphics, the analysis of multispectral images in solar imaging, and the evaluation of algorithms for colour-to-greyscale algorithms. In each case the both the theory and practical application of the work will be explored.
