The Computer Vision Center attends the Smart City Expo World Congress, thanks to the support of the Generalitat de Catalunya, highlighting its latest Computer Vision technologies for mobility management.

The Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) is the international leading event for cities. This year the event took place on November 15-17 at Fira de Barcelona and was attended by more than 20.000 in-person attendees and 853 exhibitors from 134 different countries, to find synergies and establish new partnerships.

➡ During the exhibition, the CVC stand received visits from different personalities and politicians, such as the Right Honourable President of the Government of Catalonia, Pere Aragonès, the Minister of Territory, Juli Fernández, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Natàlia Mas Guix, and the Secretary of Digital Policies, Gina Tost. Besides, at the venue, many companies, institutions and professionals approached the stand during the congress showing interest in CVC's work, among them, delegations from different countries coordinated by ACCIÓ, the Catalan Government's agency for business competitiveness.

➡ Our Knowledge and Technology Transfer Team, and the Head of our Innovation Unit participated in the networking event for the Digital Catalonia Alliance (DCA) community members.

➡ Our Associate Director, Fernando Vilariño, participated in several sessions at the SCEWC. On the one hand, he gave an inspiring talk on Living Labs and the social impact of AI in the session "Implementing the Urban Transformation". On the other hand, he participated in the open debate "The role of living labs in embracing net zero pollution", organized by ENoLL (European Network of Living Labs), in which he highlighted the importance of capacity building as a pedagogical tool for Open Innovation within Living Labs and citizen-centric approaches.

➡ And, our Research Engineer, Enric Sala, attended the 'FEMIoT: Connected Street Infrastructures' project presentation where the use cases developed by the different partners were presented. FEMIoT is a project coordinated by i2CAT and co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund within the framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Catalonia 2014-2020, to foster collaboration and develop new projects based on the Internet of Things. At the project presentation, Enric shared the results of the research done by CVC in "Instant detection of pedestrians and bikes crossing pedestrian crossings".
