The Computer Vision Center celebrates the 10th Annual Catalan Meeting on Computer Vision
- The Catalan Meeting on Computer Vision is an annual event organised by the Computer Vision Center in collaboration with all partner institutions of the inter-university master's degree in computer vision of Barcelona.
- The goals of this annual meeting are to strengthen the Catalan academic and industrial computer vision network, to highlight the most relevant research results published over the year, and to allow students from the Master in Computer Vision to meet and interact with members of the Catalan computer vision community.
The 10th Annual Catalan Meeting on Computer Vision (ACMCV 2023) was held on September 19. The event works as an annual meeting point for the computer vision community of Catalonia. It brings together the community connecting research, talent generation and industry in one day.
During the first part of the event, twenty-five promising students successfully defended their masters' theses dissertations on computer vision at the School of Engineering of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Afterwards, students moved to CVC's courtyard where the computer vision community gathered to enjoy a poster session of the most relevant works published abroad during 2023 either in top impact factor journals or highly ranked conferences. Furthermore, in parallel, there was space to network with companies such as Qurv, Picvisa, Mitek Systems, ID E&D and Biel Glasses; which were actively looking to attract young talent during the event.
And, last but not least, ACMCV was pleased to have Dr Oriol Vinyals, VP of Research at Google Deepmind, as keynote speaker with an inspiring talk on how we are witnessing the beginning of a new era in language and vision research. Dr Maria Vanrell, Director of the Master in Computer Vision, closed the event giving the awards to the top 5 Graduated Students and to the Best Master Dissertation.
