The Computer Vision Center

The Computer Vision Center (CVC) is a non-profit research center established in 1995 by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Document Analysis Group (DAG)

Context and Mission

The DAG group seeks applications to fill a position in Intelligent reading systems for conditional text spotting and recognition. We look for a junior researcher (R1) – especially in the last year of their PhD - to collaborate in the project, performing training of vision and language models, and in particular regular expression conditioned text recognition applied to scene text.

Please, note that the duration of this contract will be one-month.

This contract will be funded by AGAUR (Agència de Gestió d’Ajuts Universitaris i de Recerca) in the framework of Doctorats Industrials 2020 Call (Exp. 58).

Requirements:

- Ongoing PhD thesis in the area of Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence in the framework of scene text understanding.

- Experience with the PyTorch deep learning framework

- Experience with Transformer and RNN models. Prior experience on document analysis, scene text detection, and caracter recognition will be positively evaluated

- The candidate must be an effective communicator, multitask, and work well on collaborative and interdisciplinary designs.

- Ability to think creatively, work independently and make decisions.

- Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines and pressure.

Contract Conditions

● The position will be located at Computer Vision Center (Campus Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).

● We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week) temporary contract, a good environment, flexible working hours

Duration: 1 month

● Salary in accordance with qualifications and experience of the candidate and to CVCs salary regulations.

● Starting date: 1 June 2024.
