About CVC

The Computer Vision Center (CVC) is a non-profit research center established in 1995 by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Its mission is to carry out cutting-edge research that has the highest international impact in the field of computer vision. It also promotes the transference of knowledge to industry and society.

Research area or group: Vision, Language and Reading.

Context and Mission

The Vision, Language and Reading group http://vlr.cvc.uab.es/ seeks applications to fill a research position (R0)on privacy preserving Document Visual Question Answering systems.

This position is linked to the “European Lighthouse on Secure and Safe AI” (ELSA), a European Project funded by Horizon Europe and backed by the ELLIS network of excellence. The project covers research topics that include robustness, privacy and human agency and will develop use cases in areas such as autonomous driving, robotics, health and document intelligence.

Main responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the design and development of AI solutions for document understanding, employing privacy preserving techniques and infrastructures set up by the ELSA project.

Requirements:

- The candidate should have a strong background in machine learning and computer vision.

- Experience on document image analysis and/or visual question answering would be positive.

- The applicants are expected to be fluent in both oral and written communication in English.

- Candidates should work well in a team while demonstrating initiative and independence.

- The candidate must be an effective communicator, multitask, and work well on collaborative and interdisciplinary designs.

- Ability to think creatively, work independently and make decisions.

- Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines and pressure.

Conditions

  • The position will be located at Computer Vision Center (Campus Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).
  • We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week) temporary contract, a good environment, flexible working hours
  • Duration: up to 9 months
  • Salary in accordance with qualifications and experience of the candidate and to CVCs salary regulations.
  • Starting date: July 1, 2024
