CVCRD 2025 – 20th CVC Workshop on Computer Vision Trends and Challenges
Last Friday, July 25th, the 20th edition of CVCRD (CVC Workshop on Computer Vision Trends and Challenges) was held at the Centre de Visió per Computador (CVC). This annual event is dedicated to scientific exchange among researchers at the centre. This edition was organised by Dr. Alexandra Gómez-Villa and Dr. Danna Xue, with support from the communications team.
CVCRD is a forum for discussion and exchange that has been held every summer for 20 years, where CVC PhD students present their research lines, share key challenges, and receive feedback from the centre’s research community. With a dynamic and participatory format, the workshop fosters dialogue between senior and junior researchers and contributes to collective scientific development.
During the morning, four thematic sessions took place, proving to be highly enriching:
Session 1: Focused on Generative Models and Continual Learning, with presentations by PhD students Muhammad Atif Butt, Tao Wu, Ayan Banerjee, Guillem Arias, Liying Wang, and Dipam Goswami.
Session 2: Addressed Multimodal Understanding for Document Analysis, featuring contributions from Pau Torras, Adri Molina, Artemis Llabrés, Emanuele Vivoli, and Maximiliano Hormazábal.

After these first two sessions, a poster session and coffee break took place, an opportunity both to delve deeper into the PhD students projects and to recharge for the remainder of the day.
Next, we had the pleasure of attending a keynote by Joan Serrà, researcher at Sony AI, who delivered a talk entitled “Supervised contrastive learning from weakly-labeled audio segments for musical version matching.” His innovative proposal combines supervised artificial intelligence with contrastive learning applied to audio, aiming to identify and connect different musical versions based on partial annotations.
After the keynote, the programme continued with the remaining sessions:
Session 3: Dedicated to Security and Cognitive-Inspired AI, with presentations by Khanh Nguyen, Qi Dong, Xide Xu, Mehdi Fatan Serj, Víctor Cepero Escribano, and Oriol Balló-Gimbernat.
Session 4: Concluded the programme with topics related to Autonomous Driving and Image Analysis, presented by Tao Lian, Muhammad Naveed Riaz, Alexandre Levy, Arslan Javed, and Leo Thomas Ramos.

After the presentations, participants cast their votes to choose the best oral presentation and the best poster. The day continued with the traditional CVCRD Quiz, a fun activity that each year tests participants' knowledge about the centre and the research carried out there.
Dr. Josep Lladós, Director of the Centre, officially closed the event and announced the award winners:
Quiz winner: Artemis Llabrés
Best poster: Adrià Molina
Best presentation: Artemis Llabrés
The day concluded with the celebration of the CVC’s summer lunch, where attendees enjoyed a relaxed gathering with food and good company. During the event, the new CVC merchandise was distributed, featuring the centre’s updated corporate identity, presented as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations.
