CVC Takes Part in the European Performing Science Night 2025: A Dialogue Between Art, Science, and Technology
At the end of September, Computer Vision Center (CVC) joined the European Performing Science Night 2025, an initiative led by Fundación Épica La Fura dels Baus that brings together science and art to address global challenges.
Our researcher Xim Cerdá Company collaborated with a multidisciplinary team of scientists and artists to explore pressing issues such as plastic pollution, the importance of plankton, our consumption habits, and the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in creative processes.
After weeks of joint work, the final public performance aimed not to provide answers but to raise questions:
Can we experience the same emotions with AI-generated music or art?
Should artists embrace AI, considering its ethical and environmental implications?
These reflections continued during the Performaforum, where participants discussed the impact of AI on artistic practice, the responsibility of creators and users, and how technology intersects with the very issues the performance sought to highlight.
This experience created a space for dialogue and critical thinking about our impact on the planet, the role of technology in creation, and the kind of future we want to shape collectively through science, art, and individual action.
This activity is part of the EPSP project, funded by the Horizon Europe research and innovation programme of the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No. 101162558.
