Postdoctoral position for the Computer Vision Center Color Group
Job Reference: 20251024_CIC
Closing date: November 2, 2025
About CVC
The Computer Vision Center (CVC) is a non-profit research center established in 1995 by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Its mission is to carry out cutting-edge research that has the highest international impact in the field of computer vision. It also promotes the transference of knowledge to industry and society.
Computer vision is an exciting research area and an omnipresent technology, essentially empowering machines with the sense of vision. The CVC is a successful marriage between knowledge and innovation. In addition to our cutting-edge scientific achievements, we have established lasting ties with industrial partners and created several spin-off companies.
Context and Mission
The Color Group is looking for a junior postdoctoral researcher to collaborate on developing new methods for color-specific conditional generation in multi-modal generative models.
The candidate will work on exploiting the intrinsic knowledge about color within text-to-image (T2I) models. To this end, they will first analyze how color concepts are internally represented and propagated within diffusion models, and second, they will design targeted conditioning mechanisms that enable users to specify and control color attributes in a reliable and interpretable way.
This position is linked to the project carried out with the 2025 Leonardo Grant for Scientific Research and Cultural Creation from the BBVA Foundation, granted to Dr. Javier Vázquez Corral.
Key Duties
- Investigating how color information is encoded in text-to-image diffusion models and will identifying layers or components within the model architecture that contribute most significantly to color representation.
- Designing new models and methods allowing for color-specific control in T2I models in an interactive and easy-to-use manner.
Requirements:
- Education
- PhD in Computer science obtained between one and two years before application.
- Publications in top venues such as ICCV, CVPR, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICLR, ACM Multimedia
- Essential Knowledge and Professional Experience
- At least one year of postdoctoral research experience in Computational Color Research, Image Processing, Computer Vision.
- Knowledge of latest generative architectures
- Good programming skills using Python
- Competences
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Ability to think creatively, work independently and make decisions.
- Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines and pressure
- The candidate must be an effective communicator, multitask, and work well on collaborative and interdisciplinary designs.
- Other merits
- Experience superior to that required in similar positions is valued.
- Valuable experience in Catalan public research entities.
- Evaluation of applications:
- Candidatures that meet the above requirements will be evaluated using the following criteria:
- Requirements of the candidates (50 points).
- Other merits (up to 50 points).
Conditions
- Location: Computer Vision Center (Campus Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona).
- Contract type: full-time contract (37.5h/week), temporary.
