CVC joins CERCA’s “Research Without Excuses” campaign

Computer Vision Center is proud to join the new “Research Without Excuses” awareness campaign launched by CERCA (Centres de Recerca de Catalunya, the research network we belong to). The initiative advocates for a feminist perspective in research as well as for a strong commitment to equality, diversity, and the rights of LGBTI people within research institutions.

Conducting research with respect and through a feminist lens means understanding that equality cannot wait or be relegated to a secondary place. It requires acknowledging that, despite progress, explicit and implicit resistances still persist—resistances that can minimise or make discrimination invisible. Comments such as “this doesn’t happen here,” or neutral attitudes in situations of harassment perpetuate inequalities and silence voices that must be heard.

At CVC, we share the principles behind the campaign and support a research culture that:

✔️ Reflects on and questions existing privileges.
✔️ Provides resources to and legitimises equality policies.
✔️ Listens to, validates, and protects people’s experiences.
✔️ Promotes and shares good practices that foster safe and welcoming environments.

We believe that research "without excuses" leads to better research: fairer, more diverse, and bmore capable of addressing scientific and societal challenges with integrity and responsibility.
