Catalonia Unveils Its New 2030 Artificial Intelligence Strategy
On November 11, the Government of Catalonia officially presented the new CataloniaAI2030 Artificial Intelligence strategy, aiming to establish Catalonia as a European leader in responsible, ethical, and safe AI.
The strategy seeks, among other goals, to improve quality of life, boost business competitiveness, and reduce the digital divide, positioning the region at the forefront of technological innovation in Europe.
In this context, the Computer Vision Center (CVC) actively participates in coordinating several key initiatives:
- RDI-AI Network: promotes knowledge and technology transfer between universities and companies to generate innovative, high-value solutions.
- Ramon Llull – AIRA Postdoctoral Program: supports the recruitment of postdoctoral talent in AI at Catalan research centers and universities.
- ELLIS Unit Barcelona: the Catalan node of the European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems (ELLIS), which brings together renowned researchers in the field of AI.
Additionally, the CVC contributes to training future talent through various programs:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Artificial Intelligence at the Autonomous University of Barcelona, one of the first two AI-focused degrees in Catalonia.
- Interuniversity Master’s in Computer Vision, now in its 13th edition.
- Entrepreneurship programs such as AI4ALL and IA Accelerator, designed to support innovative projects and strengthen knowledge transfer to the business sector.
These initiatives directly contribute to the strategic pillars of talent development and AI research, essential for building a strong ecosystem with international projection.
The CVC reiterates its commitment to developing responsible AI aimed at the common good, continuing to work to strengthen and grow Catalonia’s research and innovation ecosystem.
