The Computer Vision Center (CVC) is a non-profit research center established in 1995 by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). CONTEXT AND MISSION 

The ISE Lab group is seeking a postdoc to collaborate on MNEMOSYNE project on the development and validation of intelligent and explainable decision support systems for colonoscopy.  

The selected candidate will work in all activities related to Blocks 2 (Multimodal learning) and 3 (Decision Support Systems, particularly on WP5 which is associated to fine-grained lesion classification in colonoscopy). The main activity of the selected candidate will be related to adapting the know-how developed during the project to the proposed domain of application, aiming at putting in common those methodologies that could benefit most of the specific medical tasks. 

This position is initially for 18 months and linked to the MNEMOSYNE project, funded by Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades. The project targets on the seamless integration of multimodal data using state-of-the-art AI techniques to ensure robust, explainable, interactive and actionable insights for healthcare professionals. 

The successful candidate is expected to participate in the following tasks: 

  • Definition and validation of image and video annotation platform 
  • Development and validation of deep learning systems to obtain an accurate and fine-grained lesion classification in colonoscopy. 
  • Development and validation of visual language models to integrate multimodal data analysis for explainable intelligent decision support system development. 

PROJECT PI & HOSTING GROUP 

The direct responsible for this post will be Dr. Jorge Bernal, PI of the ISE lab team at the CVC.  

CANDIDATE ’S PROFILE 

The candidate should possess a PhD in Computer Science. We are looking for candidates who have publications in top conferences like MICCAI and in journals like Endoscopy International Open or Frontiers in Oncology,  

The candidate should have a strong background in development and validation of software tools for image analysis and experience in the medical image analysis field. The applicants are expected to be fluent in both oral and written communication in English. They should work well in a team while demonstrating initiative and independence.  

+ Essential knowledge and professional experience 

  • At least 5 years of experience in programming (Python, C++) 
  • Experience in medical image analysis system development and validation 
  • Experience in methodology validation and comparative analysis 
  • Good level of English  

+ Competences 

  • The candidate must be an effective communicator, multitask, and work well on collaborative and interdisciplinary designs. 
  • Ability to think creatively, work independently and make decisions. 
  • Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines and pressure. 

CONTRACT CONDITIONS  

  • The position will be located at Computer Vision Center (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona campus). 
  • We offer a full-time contract (37.5h/week) temporary contract with flexible working hours. 
  • Duration: 18 months 
  • Salary: 30.000 € annual gross 
  • Expected starting date: February 2026
