International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2026 and International Women’s Day
This year, in the context of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science (February 11) and International Women’s Day (March 8), the CVC launched a campaign on its social media channels aimed at giving greater visibility and recognition to the work of the centre’s women researchers, highlighting their role within the scientific and technological fields.
Through this initiative, Artemis Llabrés, Ainoa Contreras, Laia Domingo, Aura Hernandez, Alexandra Gomez-Villa, and Sofia Llàcer shared both personal and professional perspectives on their work, offering a more comprehensive view of the research they carry out. In their testimonies, they explain what they work on and the motivations that drive them, while also reflecting on what it means to them to conduct research and contribute, from their respective fields, to the progress of society.
Interdisciplinary Roundtable on Women’s Scientific Leadership
Additionally, researchers Debora Gil and Maria Vanrell participated on March 11 in a roundtable organized by the science outreach group “Optica’t.” This event provided an opportunity for both the speakers and the attendees to reflect on the role and situation of women in science.

Talks in Catalan Schools
The voices of the women at the CVC have also reached schools in Catalonia. The initiative promoted by #científiques brought Laura Martín Montañez, Meritxell Bassolas, and Sofia Llàcer into classrooms to inspire young students and highlight the role of women in the fields of science and technology.
