Catalonia launches its new Data and Information Management Cluster
CVC is one of the 12 founding members of this new benchmark ecosystem for innovation and information management
The Catalonia Data & Information Management Cluster (CADIM) was officially launched yesterday at an event held at La Pedrera Auditorium in Barcelona. This new initiative aims to become a leading force in the development and innovation of information management solutions by fostering collaboration among key sector stakeholders and strengthening the position of Catalonia’s ecosystem in this strategic field.
The cluster is part of the implementation of the Catalonia Archives and Records Management Plan – Arxius 2030, promoted by the Department of Culture of the Government of Catalonia. It has been established as a public-private collaboration initiative designed to drive a shared action plan that promotes innovation, knowledge transfer, and the sector’s overall competitiveness.
The Centre de Visió per Computador (CVC) is one of the twelve founding members of the cluster, with its director, Josep Lladós, serving as a member of CADIM’s board of directors. The CVC’s participation in this initiative is closely linked to its long-standing track record of cutting-edge research in artificial intelligence systems applied to document digitisation, analysis and management, as well as cultural heritage preservation.
The twelve founding organisations driving CADIM are T-Systems Iberia, Stelo.ai, La Foneria, iLovePDF, the Centre de Visió per Computador (CVC), Astrea La Infopista Jurídica SL, AGTIC Consulting, S.L., Fundació UAB, DESIDEDATUM DATA COMPANY SL, DOCTODATA SL, NUBILUM, and Vidimus, SL.
The membership process for new organisations is already underway, with plans to welcome companies from across the value chain, as well as research and technology centres, universities, training institutions, professional associations, and other key players within the ecosystem.
Catalonia currently has a strong information management business ecosystem, made up of more than 150 companies that generate nearly 4,700 highly qualified jobs and an aggregate turnover approaching €470 million. This diverse and growing sector includes technology providers, document automation specialists, data analytics firms, document and archive management companies, digital preservation and custody services, trusted digital service providers, and specialised consultancies.
The creation of CADIM marks a major step forward in consolidating a collaborative and innovative ecosystem capable of addressing both current and future challenges in data and information management. At the CVC, we are proud to have been part of this initiative from the very beginning and to actively contribute to its growth and evolution.
