Technology description:
Software developed to automatically calculate the degree of stenosis (or narrowing) of the airway in less than 10 seconds by analyzing frames of video bronchoscopy examinations. The computer program can perform almost real-time measurements of the percentage of airway narrowing.
This system will allow us to measure the % of obstruction continuously. It will allow us to inspect airway dynamics throughout the respiratory cycle to detect dynamic airway collapse anomalies.
There is an underdiagnosis of dynamic alterations of the airways due in part to the lack of tools that allow us to quickly, reliably and reproducibly measure the degree of collapse produced during forced expiration. The study of dynamic airway collapse using specific software accessible online would allow more precise measurements to be made, facilitating the detection of these alterations and limiting the degree of variability between observers to standardize the diagnosis of this little-recognized clinical entity.
