The BrAIn Roads is a science documentary that tells the thrilling research journey of a group of scientists from the Computer Vision Center, immersed in the challenging task of developing an artificial intelligence that enables a vehicle to drive autonomously through rural areas.
With funding from the Government of Catalonia, the challenge aims to provide an economic and sustainable solution to the lack of public transportation in rural and remote areas. The scientific team faces the challenge of training the AI on a narrow mountain road, with poor visibility, adverse weather conditions, and no mobile coverage. This proof of concept differs from existing autonomous driving prototypes, which are mostly designed for urban areas.
Through an exploration of the field of artificial intelligence research, the documentary takes us from the laboratories of the CVC to the exciting field tests in the Alt Pirineu Natural Park, showcasing the successes, setbacks, and technological complexities the team experienced throughout the project.
The BrAIn Roads offers an exciting perspective on the world of science and innovation, connecting the audience with the inspiring story of a research team working tirelessly to transform autonomous driving and build bridges to a more accessible and sustainable future mobility.
This documentary presents the results of the Advanced Digital Technologies project on autonomous driving in rural areas, funded by the Government of Catalonia and executed by the CVC, in collaboration with SEAT, Volkswagen, and the i2CAT Foundation.
The BrAIn Roads is a production by Minifilms TV.
