New edition of the CVC / La Caixa – Palau Macaya dialogue series “Artificial Intelligence, ethics and citizen participation”
The CVC has been awarded, for second time, with a La Caixa – Palau Macaya grant for Public engagement of AI and Computer Vision. This new edition will start the November 11th at 6pm with the opening debate “Smarts cities and digital citizenship” at the Palau Macaya, if the COVID-19 pandemic conditions allow it.
In this new edition, the dialogue series "Artificial Intelligence, ethics and citizen participation", will continue to intend to empower citizens by giving them accurate and specific information of the latest achievements within the AI industry and research centres, will include all stakeholders of society, in order to discuss about AI and ethics in five specific areas: video survey and security, algorithm bias, industry and environment, fake news and data protection. Each session will be coordinated by a CVC researcher, and will count with professionals from industry, academia, citizen associations and public administration.
The project will start in November 2020 and end in May 2021, and will be conducted at the Palau Macaya facilities. All the session will be broadcasted by streaming through the CVC social media accounts.
The project is coordinated by members of the CVC’s Communication department, Núria Martínez and Dr. Carlos Sierra, and the CVC researcher Dr. Fernado Vilariño, and will be articulated in five focus groups consisting of citizens and sectorial associations which will actively participate in the different seminars, dialogues and debates proposed. The idea is to configure a space in which all agents feel free to express their thoughts, doubts, fears and needs and thus point out to politicians the current preoccupations of citizens regarding AI regulation.
