Research area or group: CVC Innovation Unit

The Innovation Unit of the Computer Vision Center is responsible for transferring the knowledge that is generated by CVC's Researchers to practical applications. In this context, the department is looking for candidates who are willing to collaborate on implementing Computer Vision algorithms in a variety of applications that are mostly implemented by taking advantage of the results generated by the Deep Learning Community.

More specifically, we are looking for candidates who have experience with extracting information from (digital) documents (Document Understanding). In this sense, we prefer candidates with relevant experience in this field. Nevertheless, the scope of the projects that are carried out in the Innovation Unit is very broad and touches on applications in Agriculture, Autonomous Driving, Quality Control, Post Production, Smart Recycling, Medical Applications and so on. For this reason, we prefer candidates to be flexible.

Requirements:

● Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Mathematics
● Master degree in ArtificiaI Intelligence
● Programming skills in Python and C++
● Good understanding of theoretical concepts of Computer Vision
● Proficiency in the use of vision libraries (OpenCV)
● Proficiency in the use of Deep Learning libraries (PyTorch, Tensorflow, Keras)
● The candidate must be an effective communicator, multitask, and work well on collaborative and interdisciplinary designs
● Ability to think creatively, work independently and make decisions
● Ability to take initiative, prioritize and work under set deadlines and pressure

Conditions:

The position will be located at Computer Vision Centre (Campus Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona)

● Full-time contract (37.5h/week) temporary contract, a good environment, flexible working hours
● Duration: 12 months
● Salary in accordance with qualifications and experience of the candidate and to CVCs salary regulations
● Starting date: November 01, 2023

The Computer Vision Center

The Computer Vision Center (CVC) is a non-profit research center established in 1995 by the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). Its mission is to carry out cutting-edge research that has the highest international impact in the field of computer vision. It also promotes the transference of knowledge to industry and society.

Computer vision is an exciting research area and an omnipresent technology, essentially empowering machines with the sense of vision. The CVC is a successful marriage between knowledge and innovation.
