A software that improves the diagnosis of cardiac injuries

Today, Tuesday 4th of February, the newspaper El periodic de Catalunya has published: A software that improves the diagnosis of cardiac injuries.

This publication explains how the software designed by researchers from the CVC lead by Carlo Gatta improves the diagnosis of tissular damages due to impaired blood flow.

The researchers from the CVC have collaborated with the Germans Trias i Pujol, Can Ruti hospital in Badalona to develop this project.

X ray let cardiologist to quantify the degree of the cardiac tissular damages in people that suffered from stroke and angina pectoris, but this technique requires a high grade of experience in order to correctly interpret the results, additionally, it is common that two different professionals end up with different diagnosis.

To improve and quicken the diagnosis, and to facilitate hypothetical interventions, the researchers have developed an computer tool that processes all the radiology results and offers an objective measure of the tissues’ irrigation levels.

The new software has already been successfully tested with 200 patients.
