Open Day and Interns 2020/2021 Farewell

Open Day and Interns 2020/2021 Farewell

On June 10th, the CVC hosted two events. In the morning, the Open Day, and in the afternoon, the Farewell ceremony for the 2020/2021 interns was celebrated for the first time.

More than a year later since this COVID-19 special situation has started, we were able to hold the Open Day in person again. As health guidelines dictated, the capacity was reduced to separate groups of six visitors maximum and all health measures were followed.

Students and professionals from different areas visited the CVC. Thus, not only did they learn first-hand about the research being carried out at CVC but also the training, collaboration, and development opportunities that can be performed in partnership with the CVC.

In addition, participants explored the facilities and discovered several demos that show CVC’s applied research. These demos were exhibited in the CVC tour: the self-driving car and CARLA, exposed by our researcher Diego Porres, the Deep Archive project, explained by our researcher Rubén Pérez, the BronchoX project undertaken by our researcher Carles Sanchez, Xarxes by Jialuo Chen, Age and Smart farming by Coen Antens, and Optical Illusions by Javier Vázquez.

Following the Open Day, we celebrated the interns 2020/2021 Farewell, in which the interns shared their experiences in this atypical academic course. As many of them had hardly worked at the CVC in person due to the pandemic, we allowed them to take a tour with demos and understand, in a more applied way, what is being done at the CVC in the different fields. In addition, a series of videos were recorded for all those interns who wanted to share their CVC episodes and be part of the interns’ program ambassadors.

The event continued with a short speech by our director Josep Lladós and associate director Fernando Vilariño. They highlighted the fact that the CVC is more than proud to have such a talented team of interns. Our management team has peace of mind when thinking about the future, it seems promising for all of them. The discourse was followed by the awarding of diplomas and some gifts, the photoshoot, and the toast.
