CVC at IoT Solutions World Congress 2023

The Computer Vision Center at the IoT Solutions World Congress (IOTSWC)

The Computer Vision Center was present at this year’s IOTSWC, thanks to the support of Generalitat de Catalunya, highlighting its latest Computer Vision solutions for mobility management.

The IoT Solutions World Congress is the largest international event dedicated to IoT (Internet of Things) solutions for industry. This year the event took place from January 31 to February 02 at Fira de Barcelona and was attended by more than 15000 in-person attendees and 330 exhibitors from more than a 100 different countries to find synergies and establish new partnerships.

➡ During the exhibition, the CVC stand received visits from many companies, institutions and professionals showing interest in CVC's work, among them, delegations from different countries coordinated by ACCIÓ, the Catalan Government's agency for business competitiveness.

➡ Our Head of Knowledge and Technology Transfer, Fátima Itzel López, presented our institution to a Welsh delegation at the brokerage area of the Generalitat de Catalunya and participated in the DIH4CAT tech meetings.

➡ And, CVC's work was also present at the Integrated Systems Europe conference (next to the IOTSWC) at the stand of TV3 - Televisió de Catalunya. They showcased a 360o interactive and immersive experience in the framework of the ViVIM initiative. A project funded by ACCIÓ in which we collaborate.

Our solution for mobility management

Our interactive technological demonstration instantly detects people (and bicycles) at pedestrian crossings. The system enables fast detection with only a single camera aiming to alert only those drivers whose vehicles are approaching the crossing area. Furthermore, the system extracts data and statistics that help cities manage mobility efficiently.

This solution is a use case developed by CVC within the 'FEMIoT: Connected Street Infrastructures' project. FEMIoT is a project coordinated by i2CAT and co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund within the framework of the FEDER Operational Program of Catalonia 2014-2020, to foster collaboration and develop new projects based on the Internet of Things.

Our research engineer, Enric Sala, explains it to us in these short videos (in Catalan).
