CVC School Visits 2022-2023: Exploring the Research World

During the 2022-2023 academic year, our research center had the pleasure of hosting 11 school visits. We welcomed students from different schools, including a primary school facing social challenges, high schools with various academic interests and diverse vocational schools. Some of these visits were possible through our collaboration with the School of Engineering at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB).

Our main goal was to inspire and engage young minds in the fascinating world of research and innovation, and promote STEM vocations. The students participated in an engaging CVC tour with a presentation and a tryout of our technological demonstrations. In addition, some of the schools also visited the UAB School of Engineering and their labs and facilities. Moreover, they participated in interactive workshops in the Open Lab, the industrial chemistry or telecommunications laboratories. These UAB-CVC joint visits were organized together with Aura Hernández Sabaté, UAB School of Engineering sub-director of gender and secondary education relations. Aura is not only a dedicated subdirector and professor at UAB School of Engineering but also a wonderful researcher within our own research center.

These 11 school visits proved to be highly fruitful. The primary school visit from a challenging environment was particularly special, as we aimed to promote inclusivity and provide equal opportunities for all students (especially girls), regardless of their backgrounds. Experiencing these young students' curiosity and excitement was truly rewarding.

We also had the pleasure of welcoming students from high schools and vocational training centers, tailoring workshops to suit their interests and academic pursuits. Our researchers and UAB School of Engineering professors share their knowledge and inspire the students showing them the endless possibilities in research.

We are grateful to all the researchers, schools, teachers, and students who participated in these visits. Together, we continue to strengthen the connection between education and research, fostering science awareness and the next generation of scientists and innovators.

If you are interested in arranging a school visit to our research center in the upcoming academic year, please don't hesitate to get in touch. We look forward to welcoming more young minds on this research and exploration journey.
