CVC at MWC 2025

Another amazing year at MWC2025! ✨

The Computer Vision Center (CVC) was once again present at the world’s leading technology event, proudly exhibiting at the Government of Catalonia’s pavilion thanks to the support of ACCIÓ and the Secretariat for Digital Policies. This year, however, we expanded our presence beyond our booth by also participating, as coordinators of AIRA initiative, at the Catalonia.AI stand, dedicated to promote Catalonia’s AI strategy.

One of the highlights of our participation at the Catalonia.AI booth was our demonstration on expression detection and AI-generated art. Designed as part of an educational exhibit, the demo aimed to foster discussions on the ethical and legal implications of these emerging technologies. This assessment was carried out in collaboration with OEIAC, ensuring a responsible approach to AI development and its real-world impact.

At our CVC booth, visitors had the opportunity to learn more about our research areas and projects while exploring potential collaborations and partnerships. Additionally, they could interact with our AI comic generation demo, where they became the main characters of different comic stories. The model behind this demonstration, developed by our PhD student Ayan Banerjee, enables the generation of multi-character #comic stories with consistent character design, precise dialogue placement, and high-quality visuals.

Throughout the four-day congress, we welcomed numerous professionals and distinguished guests while engaging in key activities that reinforced our role in the AI ecosystem. On the first day, we participated in a networking session with the Minister of Business, alongside other companies exhibiting at the Government of Catalonia’s booth. We were also honored to receive visits from institutional representatives, including Miquel Sàmper, the Minister of Business, and Javier Lafuente, Rector of the UAB.

Our presence extended beyond our booth as we took part in 4YFN, the startup event at MWC. As coordinators of XARXA RD-IA, we participated in the Demo Day for the 2nd edition of the AIAccelerator program. This session featured presentations from three promising AI projects: SkyNote, LiverColor, and Vitonify. Additionally, two winning projects from the AI4ALL program, Lainapp and BraiMap, were also presented.

Furthermore, on Wednesday, Xarxa RDI-IA took the stage at TalentArena, an MWC parallel event dedicated to digital talent. There, our phD student Víctor Cepero (CVC) presented BrainMap, an exciting project in the field of neurosurgery. Meanwhile, some of our researchers Javier Vázquez and Débora Gil showcased their research groups at the UAB booth at 4YFN, also Robert Benavente was presenting two projects of the CVC (VINIA: ACC_2023_EXP_SIA002_40_0001658 & SNSAT: ACC_2023_EXP_SIA001_40_0000112) strengthening connections between universities and industry.

A huge thank you to everyone who visited our booths, engaged in conversations, and shared insights with us throughout the event!

See you next year at MWC2026! 🚀
